The federal market is huge — and that is the problem
Federal agencies post a constant stream of contracting opportunities, from construction and facilities work to services and supplies. For a small contractor, the volume is the obstacle, not the opportunity. Reading through everything to find the handful you can actually perform is a full-time job most owners do not have time for.
So the work either falls to whoever has a dedicated capture team, or it gets pursued reactively — found late, bid in a rush, or missed entirely. Smaller firms lose out not because they cannot do the work, but because they never saw the opportunity in time.
